That could either mean no one buys them new so there are no used ones to sell, or whoever buys them new either loves them so much they don't want to sell them, or they have crappy resale value so no one wants to lose their shirt selling them used.Have it Back incorporates nearly all freely available serial numbers. Haven't seen any used ones on the market. I love P90s so that's a big plus.Īnyway, what's the current consensus on their quality and value? This particular one goes for around $769 new. I like the idea of the Duncan P-Rails and the Triple Shot switching system, although I don't know that I'd use more than one or two settings.

The Mod Shop Duncan Patriot Instinct is hands down the most tonally versatile Patriot we've ever offered. In fact combining a set of Duncan P-Rails and 2 Triple Shots gives you 24 different tones at your fingertips. The Triple Shot switching system expands the tonal option even further with coil splitting and series/parallel options.

The P-Rails are essentially three pickups in one and allows players to choose between P-90, single coil, and full humbucking settings. They had the perfect match for this guitar with their P-Rails pickup set and Triple Shot switching system. For this Mod Shop version we teamed with Seymour Duncan. We love to explore new places to go with the Instinct sonically. The Patriot Instinct remains one of our best selling Patriot models of all-time, it is a potent combination of performance, looks and playability. It's a MK Patriot Instinct Custom Mod Shop Duncan. So, what's the deal with MK guitars lately? Are they still good or has their quality turned questionable? Here's the one I was looking at.

One in particular stood out to me and I was thinking about buying one but I'm not sure if their quality is the same as it was around 8 or maybe 9 years ago when I bought mine. They are some of the best looking guitars on the market, imo. Recently I was wasting time trying to find ways to waste money and came across some current Michael Kelly models. One of the people criticizing them might have even been the person who originally recommended them to me. They don't make that particular model anymore so I'm glad I bought it when I did.Īnyway, lately I've seen some discussions in which MK guitars have been pretty harshly criticized. It's a Patriot Limited Spalted with Rockfield pickups. I love the guitar and to this day it's probably one of the best sounding guitars I have.

I'm not 100% sure who it was as it was a long time ago. Several years ago I picked up a Micheal Kelly guitar at the recommendation of a TGP member. I might just go back and play the one in the store again I could get one of the Blems or B-stock half price but just haven't. I was told the Korea one in the store had less QC issues vs China but am not sure what the sequence of plants are (Korea, China, Indonesia). I also inquired about the Blem 1964's online as I see those built in China. So now to the emails to/from MK I did find out they moved manufacturing to Indonesia. So before leaving grabbed a Patriot and felt at home with that one.

so when i determined the 1950 series was a no go, grabbed a 1964 and really like how it played and felt, noticed back of the HS Made in S.Korea. Now this is personal preference and most of the aspects of build and aesthetics were OK. It's setup was better but i couldn't bond with the neck and when the 1953 was brought back out, same deal. So while a sales rep did adjusting tried the weight relief T-Style.

First grabbed a 1953, high E string flopped off fingerboard and action was high. Went into a local shop to check out the MK 1950 series and noticed they had some other models as well. Here is my limited hands on experience and some back and forth correspondence with them.
